On April 29, 2024, a day filled with immense joy and spiritual significance, we had the privilege of celebrating the feast of St. Catherine of Siena, a revered saint and Doctor of the Church. To add to the blessings of the day, we witnessed the solemn profession of religious vows by two dedicated Dominican Friars: our Chinese Brothers Dominic Hu and Joseph Xiong during the Mass presided by our Prior Provincial Fr. Reuben Martinez Ortega

St. Catherine of Siena, known for her profound spirituality, unwavering faith, and tireless pursuit of justice and peace, continues to inspire countless souls around the world. Her unwavering devotion to God and her selfless service to others serve as a guiding light for all who seek to deepen their relationship with the divine and make a positive impact on society.

As Dominican Friars, the two Brothers who made their Solemn Profession have embraced the charism of the Dominican Order, which emphasizes the pursuit of truth, study, contemplation, and preaching. Their commitment to the Dominican way of life is a testimony to their deep love for God, their dedication to intellectual exploration, and their desire to share the fruits of their contemplation with others.

The solemn profession of these two Dominican Friars signifies a lifelong commitment to live according to the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience within the context of the Dominican tradition. It is a sacred moment of consecration, where they offer themselves fully to God and His people, committing to a life of prayer, study, community, and preaching the Gospel.

We are immensely proud of these two Brothers as they embark on this noble journey of service and contemplation. Their solemn profession is a testament to their unwavering faith, their deep love for God and humanity, and their desire to follow in the footsteps of St. Dominic, the founder of the Dominican Order.

Let us join together in congratulating these Dominican Friars on their solemn profession, as they dedicate their lives to the pursuit of truth, the preaching of the Gospel, and the fostering of justice and peace. May their commitment inspire us all to seek truth, live with integrity, and serve others with compassion.

As we celebrate the feast of St. Catherine of Siena and witness this momentous occasion, let us remember the power of faith, the beauty of the religious life, and the transformative impact that dedicated individuals can have on the world. May St. Catherine and the intercession of St. Dominic guide and inspire these Dominican Friars as they continue their journey of service and contemplation.
