Venezuela: Rest in Peace Fr. Edixsandro Morán, OP.

Fr. Edixsandro Jesús Morán Soto, OP. was born in Maracaibo, Zulia, Venezuela in April 19, 1984. He studied his elementary studies in the U.E. Presbítero Miguel Ángel Ortega of La Cañada, Urdaneta, Zulia. He decided to join the Province of Our Lady of the Rosary and initiate his discernment in the Priory Bartolome de las Casas in Caracas Venezuela in 2008. At that same time he studied Philosophy in the Instituto de Teología para Religiosos of the Universidad Católica Andrés Belllo in the same city.

Fr. Edixsandro was sent to Hong Kong and assigned to Saint Albert´s Priory in Hong Kong in 2009. There he made his novitiate year. After the novitiate year, Fr. Edixsandro made religious profession on July 07, 2010. After his first profession, it was necessary for him to begin the institutional studies of Theology. He studied in Universidad Santo Tomás in Colombia and in the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana de Medellín.

He was ordained to the priesthood in Santuario de San Martín de Porres, Maracaibo, Venezuela in May 07, 2017. And he was assigned to the Priory Bartolome de las Casas as member of the formation community. In the same year, he was appointed as Promoter of Vocation in the Vicariate of Venezuela. After a short period in Caracas, he was assigned to the House “Espíritu Santo” in Barquisimeto, Lara - Venezuela. In 2018, he was appointed as a Parish Priest of “El Ángel” and syndic of the house.

Our brother Fr. Edixsandro was a very talent Dominican brother, he dedicated himself to express the beauties of the Lord trough art in different expressions. During his life, he committed himself for the preaching and the service for the good of the community. 

Edixsandro Morán Soto, OP. He passed away on September 22, 2020, due to COVID-19. Our brother fought for several days in the local hospital. Our Province mourns the loss of a brother at such an early age. We ask the entire Dominican family to pray for his eternal rest and also for their relatives and community of friars in the community of San Cristóbal, Venezuela.
