Spain: Rest in Peace Fr. Ticiano Vara García, OP.

With sorrow, we inform the death of Fr. Ticiano Vara García, OP. 

Ticiano Vara García, OP., was born in Santa Croya de Tera, Zamora, Spain on August 14, 1939. He completed his elementary studies at the School of Santa Croya de Tera, in Zamora; and in the Secondary School in la Mejorada, Valladolid; Santa María de Nieva, Segovia, and Arcas Reales.

Ticiano made his novitiate at the Convent of Santo Domingo in Ocaña in 1956, and made his first religious profession on August 4, 1957. On 1957,  he began his institutional studies of Philosophy at the Convent of Santo Tomás, Ávila, and at the Convent of San Pedro Mártir (1957-1960). He began his theological studies at the Convent of Santo Tomás, Ávila in 1960 and completed it at the Convent of Santo Domingo, Quezon City, Philippines in 1965.

Ticiano Vara was ordained a Priest in Manila, Philippines on May 31, 1964. He completed complementary studies in Philosophy in Madrid; also a Bachelor of Music at the Santo Tomás University in Manila; And a Degree in Philosophy and Letters in the city of Madrid.

Father Ticiano was a religious dedicated to evangelization and service to all. He was a teacher and syndic at the Rosaryhill School in Hong Kong from 1972 to 1978; Later, he continued on the path of teaching in Venezuela at the Colegio Arzobispo Méndez, Barinas from 1979 to 1989. In turn, he was elected superior of the Casa de Barinas (1981-1987); He was also a coordinator at the Colegio Arzobispo Méndez in the city of Barinas from 1981-1989. And he served as an assistant to the Province Trustee in Venezuela 1989.

He dies at the age of 81, on March 31, 2020 in the city of Madrid.

Following the sanitary protocol, the wake cannot be held, for this reason, we ask all the brothers of the Province to pray for the eternal rest of Fray Ticiano, and for the consolation of his community of friars in Peñalver, family and close friends.

May the Lord grant him the reward of the righteous.
