October 12, 2019, was a special day for many.

Around 3:00 a.m. Fr. had to get up to fetch our brothers from Loikaw who were traveling more than ten hours with the family of bro. Peter, some sisters, and friends. The bus driver ‘got lost’ in a place not so far from the house. They were happily guided to the house and took a quick rest.

Very soon the family of our brothers Pual and Abraham also arrived and stayed in our house in Chantha-Gone with Fr. Kai Mariano. All of them traveled a long distance to be present for the celebration. Fr. John Maung Sui accompanied the Dominican sisters from Yangon.

Those who came from abroad for this special celebration was Fr. Jose Salas, responsible for the missions; Fr. Lawrence The Reh, representing the community of St. Dominic, Macau where our brothers spent their precious time during studentate; Fr. Raymond Mi, on behalf of the Prior Provincial.

Back locally our brothers in Mandalay, Hilario, Kai Mariano and Micheal Tony made the best preparation possible in cooperation with the candidate brothers, the brothers in Loikaw and Yangon. Take the busy weeks as a whole; it’s a beautiful community picture in harmonious motion. It’s alive, giving life and joy to others.

At around 3:00 p.m. all the brothers, family members, guests, and friends set out for the Shrine of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Chantha-Gone where the ordination was to take place.

The solemn Eucharistic celebration started at 4:30 p.m. presided by his eminence Most Rev. Marco Tin Win. There were more than 57 co-celebrating priests. Aside from the family members and friends, thousands of pilgrims also joined the solemn Mass. The choir was angelic and their singing touches not the ear but hearts.

The Mass and the preaching were all in Burmese. In the few English the bishop used in passing during the homily, one message stands out: the witness of life as the most powerful means of preaching. This is very true to us Dominicans who are called from different places and cultures to live under one roof in love. May God’s blessing always keep us in love as one family.
