The Rosary of the Virgin Mary is one of the traditional forms of Christian prayer oriented to the contemplation of the mystery of Christ through the repetition of the angelic salutation, which is its characteristic element (cf. RVM 18). The Rosary is the "Compendium of the whole Gospel" (MC 42), the Rosary, understood in its full meaning, leads to the heart of the Christian life and offers a particularly fruitful opportunity for personal contemplation, the formation of the People of God and the new Evangelization (see RVM 3).
From 01 to 10 December 2017 Fr. Moises, OP and Fr. Louis Marie, OP General Promoter of the Rosary, visited the Brotherhood of the Holy Rosary in our communities in Venezuela, in order to encourage them and share with them the work that other brotherhoods around the world. There were also some talkings about the importance of the Virgin Mary and the Holy Rosary in the Catholic Church.
San Jacinto Community of Poland - Caracas
Fr. Alex Brown Peter, OP. Pastor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and the fraternity of the Rosary received us in this community. Br. Louis-Marie, OP shared his experience as General Promoter of the Rosary in the World. He shows different places of pilgrimage dedicated to the Virgin Mary in the different invocations in the World. ie. The Sanctuary of the Virgin of Lourdes in France.
Community Casa Espíritu Santo – Barquisimeto.
The first meeting was held with the future brothers of the Holy Spirit Church of Barquisimeto. This meeting was a dialogue about personal knowledge and expectations for the future foundation of the Brotherhood of the Rosary in that Parish. In addition, the role of the confreres in the Christian life and mission in the church was highlighted.
In the second meeting, Fr. Louis Marie, OP shared his experience with communities in conflict situations due to the war. Communities such as those located in the Middle East have suffered death, Christian persecutions, and have harmed the most vulnerable in society.
Community San Alberto Magno House - Barinas
Fr. Guillermo Méndez, OP Parish priest of the Church Ntra. Señora del Carmen in Barinas, and the Dominican fraternity Beata Juana de Aza receive them in this community. Br. Louis Marie, OP spoke about the importance of the Holy Rosary in the Church and the rediscovery of its meaning in the life of Christians. The meeting ends with the Holy Mass presided by Br. Lois.
After the visit by the different communities, the promoters returned to Caracas for a meeting between the Regional Promoter of the Rosario in Venezuela and the General Promoter of the Rosary. We share with you the conclusions after the visits made to the brotherhoods:
- 1. Continue to strengthen the fraternities that are close to being founded in the places visited to consolidate the work begun.
- 2. Continue promoting in the communities the promotion of the rosary, through activities that help to remember the meaning of the rosary in the Christian life.
- 3. Review the roads of the rosary team proposal in the apostolate communities, where the friars meet.
- 4. Continue to strengthen the prayer for Venezuela in the face of the fragile situation that lives as a nation politically, socially and religiously.
