Saint Paul’s School is one of the seven diocesan schools in Macau with students in its three levels (kindergarten, primary and secondary) and with a faculty staff of about 350. This school has been entrusted by the diocese of Macau to the Province of Our Lady of the Rosary; thus our Dominican Fathers of St. Dominic’s priory are taking care of it.

Every year, on the 25thof January, the School commemorates its Patron, Saint Paul, the Apostle of the Gentiles. This year 2019 the feast day of St Paul’s conversion coincided with the School’s 48thfoundation anniversary.  A solemn Mass and a program were held within the School premises with the participation of the students from the three levels, professors and staff. The Mass, in Cantonese, was presided over by Fr Lawrence The Reh, OP, and concelebrated by Fr Bonifacio García Solís, the Prior Provincial, and some other Fathers from St Dominic’s Priory. Our Dominican student brothers graced also the occasion with their presence and active participation, upon the invitation of Fr Athanasius Chen.

After the Mas, there was a variety program on the stage. The first one to go up was the School’s Principal, Fr. Athanasius, who in his address evoked the present School’s ephemerides and had some words of gratitude to everybody related to the School in a way or another. He added an appeal to responsibility: “St Paul’s is a Catholic school, thus it is based on the gospel of Jesus, who stated having come not to be served but to serve. He is our good example, so our goal is to look at how Jesus served those who were around him during his time. For me, education is service: we serve our students; we serve their parents and we serve our community, too”. Several numbers of music and dance performed by the students of different levels completed the program.

The celebration ended with a lunch served at 12:30 pm at the Fisherman’s Warf, well attended by the School’s students, teachers, staff personnel and all the members of our Dominican community.
