Why I want to become a dominican
Life testimony of novice Martín Contreras
My name is Martín Giordani Contreras Aparicio; I am twenty five years old; I am from Colombia. I was born on February 3, 1985. I have one sister and one brother. I took secondary school in Cúcuta from 1996-2001. I took my philosophy in the Faculty of Theology in the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (UCAB) in Caracas, Venezuela from 2005 to 2009. On August 1, 2005 I freely joined the Dominicans in the Province of Our Lady of the Rosary as a postulant. Before joining the Dominicans, I worked in a computer company as a technician and later on as a secretary and accountant in a church. I was also an elementary school teacher. In August 2009, due to the acceptance of the Dominican fathers, I came to Hong Kong for the novitiate. Until now I have been undergoing four months of formation. Together with me are eleven novices. We are from different countries. Three are from Latin America; two are from Australia; four are from Burma; one is from Korea; and one is from the Philippines. I am very happy to be in Hong Kong with my fellow novices and the master of novices and the Dominican community.
